I’m not sure exactly what it sounded like as it was an email conversation but I’m pretty sure Adam’s face was like this:


An excerpt is:

thats a massive drop in weight for not much change in food.  maybe the cardio drained a bunch of fluid out resulting in the weight gain. (I think he means loss)

the leg pinch being down is weird too. normally when a girl drinks it goes straight to their thighs and we see it in the pinch. maybe you got away with it….or it may get you next week.

its honestly hard to know what to do with the food with such a big change.

id rather leave it for another week and see what happens next week.

So – he feels I fluked it and will get the wine-fat-legs next week. So – I get another week to keep these changes, improve on them and get even closer to my goals!

Mimi likes to French (toast)…

Everyone has a Mimi in their life. Probably not one called Mimi, but hey.
Mim is the type of lady who is so kind and generous that you seriously can’t help but like her instantly.

I first met Mimi at my first ever 12wbt event. I was hiding in the corner, sitting down in the shadows because my feet hurt. Being a whisper under 100kg in stiletto heels will do that. And I was shy. But she spoke to me. Because she was there in the shadows too. We hid together.

Since then, Mimi’s been part of the rowdy posse I’ve partied all over the country with and I love her dearly.

She’s a much better cook than me. And a vastly better photographer. So she melded her skills together for a quick foodie review for you!

I am such a breakfast nut, it’s my favourite meal of the day.

Before starting the Michelle Bridges 12WBT program, going out for breakfast was a regular occurrence. I would always steer towards the sweet dishes, I’m talking about the calorific ones ladened a with rich sweet marscapone and adorned with some kind of sugary praline…..

Once I joined the program I was delighted with the variety of great breakfast recipes to choose from. 
The French Toast with Banana, Berries & Maple Syrup looked gorgeous so I created the dish and it definitely ticked all the boxes for me. It looked fantastic and was so delicious.

The combination of berries with banana is so delightful and the maple syrup gives this dish that sweetness I love and at only 321 calories per serve it’s an absolute winner!

Love in a time of Terror


In a time of terrorism so close to home, all I can think of is the people I love.

Hold your people close. Every day. Let them know how much you love them. Every day. Act with kindness and integrity always because it becomes your legacy.  Every day. Just love.

It reminds me of my favourite quote from ‘Love Actually’ (2003 film):

“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.”


Because I haven’t put up a ‘before and after’ in a while. Because the ‘after’ isn’t the end. It’s just me at the moment.  Because the body I built (like life!) shifts and changes all the time. I’m really happy with where I am at the moment.  Because that doesn’t mean I won’t change, just that I choose to enjoy the scenery from all the stops along the way.  xoxo.


Lemme catch you up….

Short post. It’s 9pm and I’m snuggled up in bed. SO very unlike me!

I mentioned in my recent DEXA post that after the freak out of getting a DEXA reading of 32.4% body fat that I sought a second opinion. That was a quick check in on an InBody bio – impedance scanner that came back as 23.8% body fat. AND.. because I am a nutball thorough and scientific,  I booked in to get my body fat measured with calipers by an expert too.

So yesterday morning,  the great Kate from Pro Training calipered me. Having someone in my personal space pinching my fat is less than my idea of fun, but I figured I could cope. Kate is very cool and despite her not actively being my trainer or coach was really generous with her time. Funny story, I can’t recall exactly what the reading was BUT that’s probably because it was nowhere near 32.4%

I think it was 23%. Or at least somewhere near there. Sweet.

So, this is the end of my nuttiness scientific collection of baseline data. The average of my three tests is 26.4% – I’m okay with that.


But what DOES come next?

First goal is to be back under the 20% by calipers and/or InBody fairly soon.

I’d love to do a photo shoot for fun sometime later in the year. Something fitness-y but pretty and fun. No rippling muscle needed, no stress, just as a marker of what I’m up to at this point in my life.

Maybe I’ll compete next year, maybe I won’t.  I love it and missed it this year so will be working in that general direction but with my health,  balance and happiness firmly out in front.

And for 9.38pm on a Friday night, that’ll do for now.
